Home Alone Safety

Ages 8-11. Learn the basics of being safe when home alone for short periods of time. We'll talk about how to answer the telephone and door, Internet safety, first aid techniques, accident prevention and fire protection and more will be discussed. Youth will have a better understanding of responsibility & independence. This is an interactive class. Bring a snack and water. Each student will receive a handbook.

We will provide you with everything you need, except pens/pencils so make sure you bring something to write with. Also remember to pack an extra snack and water. We will be covering various safety topics through discussion, questions and activities. There will be no testing. I just hope you all ask lots and lots of questions!

PARENTS/GUARDIANS:
I strongly advise you all to go over the material with your children that they bring home. These are your children and ultimately you make the rules and give the final say. I give pointers, suggestions and tips. You, with your child, decide the routines, times for check-ins, safety precautions and rules (etc.). Leaving your children home alone is a big step towards more responsibility and independence, make sure you take the time to go through everything and have plans setup.
