Instructor:  Rich CloughBallroom dancing is more popular now more than ever - thanks to shows like "Dancing With The Stars", "America's Got Talent" and "So You Think You Can Dance".   Today’ s Rock, Rhythm, and Blues are all used in the class. No partner necessary. We are also learning what various ballroom dances are; Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Tango, Swing, and what defines them or differentiates them. According to past participants, Rich is excellent in teaching one HOW to do it, be it Tango or Swing, Waltz or Rumba.  Come and join in the fun! Comfortable clothes and shoes need to be worn. Shoes need to have non-grip soles (sneakers and soft rubber soles are considered to be "grippy-soled" shoes).  PLEASE NOTE:   Classes will no longer be held at the Studio 9247.  When we get closer, we will tell you where classes will be held. Right now, we are scheduled to have the classes in the PES gym...if we get bumped, we can share the Peterborough Community Center with another group that night.  A BIG thank you to the Sterlings for sponsoring Ballroom Dance at their location over the past few years!!Session V -  May 7th to June 11th

The Senior Lunch program runs on Fridays, throughout the year - barring the weather and placement of holidays. Come and join the group for "good food, good company and great desserts".  Doors open at 10:00am for coffee, games and chatting.  Lunch is served at 11:30am.  Reservations are required for all lunches.  This can be done by calling the Wednesday prior to the lunch - 784-5032.  The special lunches require more advanced reservations.Periodically, there will be a speaker at the luncheon and/or a special event.  The last Friday of the month, the lunch will be Pot Luck. The Senior Lunch program runs on Fridays, throughout the year - barring the weather and placement of holidays. Come and join the group for "good food, good company and great desserts".  Doors open at 10:00am for coffee, games and chatting.  Lunch is served at 11:30am.  Reservations are required for all lunches.  This can be done by calling the Wednesday prior to the lunch - 784-5032.  The special lunches require more advanced reservations.Periodically, there will be a speaker at the luncheon and/or a special event.  The last Friday of the month, the lunch will be Pot Luck. Wicked Good Basic Manners - This 6 week class focuses on the foundation behaviors that help you and your dog live happily together both at home and in the community.  It is designed to help owners teach their dogs leash manners, recall,  no jumping, attention and more.  This class is appropriate for new students ages 8 weeks and up.  We need a minimum of three registrants to run the class.  The class will be capped at 6.Reactive Rover - This 5 week class is designed for dogs that exhibit inappropriate behavior in the presence of other dogs or people.  It is NOT for dogs that have a bite history.  We will work on changing your dog’s emotional  response to things he finds offensive.  Owners will learn how to redirect/manage  and predict/prevent reactivity in their dog. This isn't a class for just rowdy, excitable dogs, this is for those dogs that exhibit aggressive outbursts toward dogs or people when on leash.  One will also learn techniques and tips on how to handle surprise and troublesome situations.  For dogs 5 months of age and older.  We need a minimum of 3 dogs to run the class, we have set the max at 5 dogs.Recall Focus - Teach your dog to come when called! Through games and training exercises, you and your dog will learn how to work together and make coming when called a much more reliable behavior.  For puppies and dogs over the age of 8 weeks.  Pups need to be on a 6 foot leash, no retractable leashes please.  This class runs for 4 weeks. Leash Manners Focus Class -  This 4 week class focuses on teaching our dogs proper leash walking etiquette. Stop the pulling, lunging and distracted focus when you take your dog out on leash. We will be working on leash skills both indoors and outdoors. Dogs must be on a regular 6 foot leash and a buckle collar or body harness. This class is appropriate for dogs 8 weeks and up! Handlers must be at least 16yrs. old, younger children welcome with parental supervision.  Bring proof of vaccination to the first class. Minimum class size 3; maximum class size 6Wicked Good Dogs About Town - This class meets in downtown Peterborough each session and works on community manners such as; leash skills, greeting behavior and calm behavior around distractions. This class explores many areas around downtown, so there will be a lot of walking required. You can register for each class individually as they fit your schedule. Bring plenty of water for yourself and your dog and really good walking shoes! Handlers must be 16yrs. or older. Must have completed Wicked Good Basic Manners or equivalent. minimum 3; maximum 6  Everyone is to meet near the post office.  You must bring along proof that your pup's rabies vaccination is current.Tricks for Fun! - In this 3 week class we will focus on learning some basic and advanced tricks, work with conditioning equipment and have fun with our dogs. No pre-requisite is required for this class and it is appropriate for dogs 8 weeks and up!  Canine Good Citizen - This five week class prepares you and your dog to take the test to earn your AKC Canine Good Citizen title. This distinction tells the world your dog has passed a rigorous test based on polite behaviors like accepting a friendly stranger, walking on a loose leash, ignoring distractions and more. For more information and to see a list of all 10 test items, you can check out http://www.akc.org/dog-owners/training/canine-good-citizen/  There will be a test scheduled for those wanting to take the test, it is not required to participate in this class. Handlers must be at least 12 years old and dogs need to have gone through Wicked Good Basic Manners or the equivalent.Wicked Good Advanced Manners: This 6-week class is the continuation of the Wicked Good Basic Manners class. We will improve upon the basic behaviors learned, such as leash skills, recall, and attention around distractions. We will also work on improving your dogs’ greeting behavior with strangers. New behaviors of Stay, Go to your place and Drop it, will be learned as well. There will be a lot of distractions in this class to help your dog learn to work around them in the real world.  Handlers must be at least 16yrs.old. Dogs must have gone through Wicked Good Basic Manners class or equivalentLeash Skills Workshop:  A 2 hour intensive workshop to practice techniques to help your dog improve his leash skills and make walking him more enjoyable. This will be a busy, active workshop and we will be both inside and outside so appropriate footwear is necessary. After being together for four weeks, the program is wrapped up with an exciting extended overnight trip.  **New this summer   -  we listened to your feedback and will be trying something new this summer!!  This was to accommodate some playground program kids requests as well as some summer teen challenge kids requests.              Session 1:  Will expand their grade eligibility to include 10th graders.  This session, an incoming 7th through 10 grader can sign up.               Session 2:   This session will be for a younger group to include 6th graders.  In this session, an incoming 6th through 9th grader can sign up. Join this fun group of seniors every Monday afternoon at 1pm for an afternoon of cribbage at the Peterborough Community Center - year 'round!  This is another great way to get out and socialize! You must be enrolled in the Summer Playground Program to participate in this program.  We offer parents the option to drop off their kids as early as 7:30am, and/or pick them up before 5:30pm, on a daily or weekly basis. Additional fees for the extended day option are paid above the basic program fee. In the drop down bar near the registration week's link, you will see that we do offer daily extended day rates but we need to do that adjustment here in the office.  Please call or stop by if you need to utilize this piece of the program for just a day or two.We will be billing folks every week for the extended day program based upon what your child(ren) may have utilized.  The PRD expects full payment by the Friday of the next week.  If payment is not received or arrangements made, your child(ren) may not be allowed to attend the program the following week.  You will receive your bill electronically.The daily rate for the extended day program is $14/day/resident and $18/day/non resident of Peterborough.The weekly rate for the extended day program is $51/residents of Peterborough and $66/non-residents

Coordinators:  Jordan Mills, maddy Perry and David WeberSpread the word!  Talk it up amongst your child(ren) and their friends….past participants have said that this program is a blast!! The Summer Teen Challenge's (STC) philosophy is to challenge kids to think and act on issues that they will be confronted with as teenagers.  The program activities help built self-esteem and encourage kids to work as a team. After being together for four weeks, the program is wrapped up with an exciting extended overnight trip.  **New this summer   -  we listened to your feedback and will be trying something new this summer!!  This was to accommodate some playground program kids requests as well as some summer teen challenge kids requests.              Session 1:  Will expand their grade eligibility to include 10th graders.  This session, an incoming 7th through 10 grader can sign up.               Session 2:   This session will be for a younger group to include 6th graders.  In this session, an incoming 6th through 9th grader can sign up. Want your child to enjoy the summer time outside?  Come and romp with other friends in playground program here at the Peterborough Recreation Department!!  The Playground Program offers girls and boys (entering 1st through 6th grade) a wide variety of enjoyable and challenging summer opportunities, including optional weekly field trips. Between the pond,  pool and the splash pad, there are plenty of opportunities to keep the kids cool during the hot summer months.  The program runs for 8 weeks, Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm.  We plan to start this program on June 24th, 2019.  We hope to have many of last year's staff return!!We are excited to tell you that there will be many new additions to this program - more information to come!!As advertised in other venues, the price includes the mandatory pool pass EXCEPT for on this website.  The price is broken down....hence the price differential if you compare the flier price versus the below price.  The cost increase in the fliers is $10 to cover the season's pool pass for residents of Peterborough and the $53 non resident's season's pool pass.The program will not be running on Thursday, July 4th.The final day of the program- Friday August 16th- is a half-day.Total cost, including an individual season's pool pass (field trips, camp-outs and extended days are excluded)    Residents:       $558.00    Non residents:  $868.00
