The Peterborough Recreation Department offers six levels of American Red Cross swimming lessons throughout the summer along with a Tiny Tots class, an Adaptive Swim class as well as private swimming lessons. Swimming is considered a lifesaving skill. Register your children now so they can attain this skill, which will serve them throughout their lives.
The classes meet Monday through Thursday for two consecutive weeks.* Friday is reserved as the make-up day in case of thunderstorms. Class size is limited, so please register early.
Pre-school Classes – This class is for 3 to 5 year olds.
Purpose: This class is taught according to the level 1 curricula but for "wee ones." Orient one-self to aquatic environments as well as create a sound foundation for aquatic safety skills. If your child is afraid to put his/her head in the water, this is the class for him/her. Maximum; 5-8 children per class (depending upon time). This is a class for kids without their caregivers in the water.
There will be a chance for your child to be pre-tested on Thursday, June 27th, 4 to 4:30pm.
All classes for Pre-School will be offered at the pool. We have stairs entering the pool so any participant can enter the pool gradually if need be.
Cost: Session 1, $24/resident of Peterborough
Session 2 through 4
$48/session/resident of Peterborough
For siblings of swimming lesson participants: It will cost $5/session (for residents) or $12/session (for non-residents) for siblings of swimming lessons participants to play in the splash pad during the two weeks their sibling is taking lessons. The monies are to be paid to the bathhouse staff and they will keep track up at the pool during the lesson time. This does not apply to 2019 season's pool pass holders.
Our first session of swim lessons will be only one week long from July 1 through 5, with no class on July 4th.
